The daddy longlegs is a harmless arachnid which feeds on
vegetable matter, plant juices, and small insects-dead and alive. It has no fangs as a spider
does and is completely innocuous to humans. Another interesting feature besides its impressive
gangly legs is the tubercle which holds its two tiny eyes like a short periscope above its body.
Here a specimen is shown foraging across lichen-encrusted tree bark.
